Instagram and Threads get an update for Halloween.

Halloween is just around the corner, and Meta's social media platforms are getting ready for users. Instagram's latest addition is a new font called "Ghost," which you can select directly when creating a story or reel. Meanwhile, Threads, the alternative to X, has implemented "Ghost Stories," posts that disappear 24 hours after being published, "so you can share your thoughts unfiltered," according to the official announcement. If you choose to create a ghost post, the replies you receive are sent to your message inbox, and only you can see who responded to your post and who liked it. None of Meta's social media platforms specified whether these features will disappear after Halloween or remain permanently. However, updates are becoming more frequent, as the company actively listens to user feedback, both to include improvements and to reverse changes that haven't been well-received by the community. In fact, every Friday Adam Mosseri usually opens his official Instagram account to receive questions and suggestions, many of which lead to changes in the app. To name a few, now when you view a reel and then lose track of it, you can visit your history to find it again, something that wasn't possible until recently and frustrated many users. You can also now pin your own comments to posts or link reels so your followers can more easily access related content. Other recent updates include a new slide-out navigation menu, more AI-powered editing options for photos and videos, and the new 5120x1080 video format, among others. In Threads, some of the recent improvements include direct messaging; the ability to include text attachments in posts, allowing up to 10,000 characters; and the functionality that allows advertisers to leverage Facebook or Instagram posts to create campaigns on this social network. In addition, a feature was launched during the summer that allows users to hide multimedia content or text in posts with spoilers.
