Ikea expands its presence in China with an official store on JD.com.

Ikea has decided to invest in the Chinese market by collaborating with JD.com, one of the Asian country's technology giants. This partnership consists of opening an exclusive store within the JD.com platform, where users can explore products with 3D visualizations, thus offering a rich and complete shopping experience. With this new online store on JD.com, Ikea will offer 6,500 products in 168 categories. The products will range from furniture to gaming items, such as the brand's "Bästboll" chair and "Malomrade" desk. These products will be available exclusively through this platform, and the range will expand over time to meet the growing demand for personalized home goods. But Ikea has thought of everything: with the partnership with JD.com, it will leverage its national network to make fast and efficient deliveries, even in regions where the Swedish company does not have physical stores. This action will make it easier for people in China to better understand the brand and easily access IKEA products. This tool will use the "3D Solution at a Glance," a technology that allows users to view products in three dimensions simply by tilting their mobile phone, without the need for glasses or special devices. This partnership will benefit not only IKEA but also JD.com, which is entering the home furnishings sector. Digitization and Logistics Optimize the Furniture Market in China According to the official JD.com blog, Pontus Erntell, President and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA China, stated: "Since 2018, IKEA China has continuously expanded its digital presence and strengthened its omnichannel development." He also emphasized that the opening of this store on JD.com is an important step in the group's growth strategy. Young consumers in China are driving demand for diverse products and comprehensive shopping experiences. In fact, in the first half of 2025, the number of international home brands joining JD.com increased by more than 130% year-over-year. These brands include Muji, Natuzzi Italia, and Villeroy & Boch. In addition to its growth in China, JD.com continues to expand into international markets. It is currently reported to be in the process of permanently acquiring Ceconomy, the parent company of the well-known German group Mediamarkt-Saturn, which could further strengthen its presence in Europe.
