The Shielded Mail feature will allow users to create email aliases, either single-use or limited-use, to avoid unwanted advertising. Spam is becoming more and more prevalent in emails, but luckily, platforms have tools to detect promotional or fraudulent messages, from marking emails that do not interest us as spam, unsubscribing from websites that we no longer use, blocking certain senders, to selecting the 'Report as spam' option in Gmail. However, this last mentioned application could offer Internet users a new privacy feature to avoid unwanted advertising. The Android Authority newspaper reveals that Gmail will hide users' email when signing up for applications or services. Specifically, thanks to this new feature, called 'Shielded Mail', interested parties will be able to create email aliases, either single-use or limited-use, so that users do not have to share their personal emails with certain websites. However, it is important to mention that even if the address is not shared because an alias has been created, emails are redirected to the personal one. When an individual signs up for an app, they will have the option to share their real email address or an automatically generated address. If the user chooses the second option, emails that come to the made-up address will be forwarded to the personal email. Regarding its availability, Android Authority indicates that Google is developing such a feature to "address apps that ask for the email address," adding that "it may come to a service in the future based on the development code." However, it also points out that "it is possible that such a feature may not come to a public version." Gmail's free feature to detect fraudulent emails Gmail has a free feature to protect users from phishing. Interested users can activate an extra layer of protection to provide "additional protection against phishing," in this way, Google will perform a real-time security analysis to place a block on any site, download or extension that could be dangerous. On the other hand, it will improve the detection of phishing attempts and other programs labeled as malicious, as well as protect users from potentially dangerous links.
