Spanish podcasters will be able to access the Spotify Partner Program starting October 20th. The audio platform will expand this program to 35 new countries, following its success in the US market.
How the Spotify Partner Program Works
This program offers several ways for podcasters to increase their revenue, not just through audio. Creators can access payments based on the interaction and views of Spotify Premium users when they watch their podcasts in video format. When Spotify Premium members in certain markets play these episodes, the platform doesn't include ads, so instead of generating revenue from ads, creators earn money based on the number of times their show is played.
In any case, the core of the program is monetization through ads, which allows for dynamic advertising within episodes, both on the free version of Spotify and on other compatible podcast listening platforms. According to Spotify's published terms, creators will receive 50% of the revenue generated each time a Spotify-monetized ad plays in their episodes, both on and off Spotify. (The platform considers a play valid when the user listens to or watches the episode for at least 60 seconds.)
Furthermore, podcasters have the freedom to choose when these ad breaks are inserted within their content.
Finally, creators can also insert and manage their own external campaigns or sponsorships, maintaining 100% control over their revenue and monitoring performance metrics.
Requirements to access the Spotify Partner Program
However, not all podcasts are eligible for this program. To qualify, they must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Host their show on Spotify for Creators
- Have a registered business address in an eligible market
- Have published at least 3 episodes
- Have reached at least 2,000 hours of listening time on Spotify in the last 30 days
- Have had at least 1,000 listeners on Spotify in the last 30 days
The Rise of Video Podcasts
This program arrives in Spain at a time of booming video podcasts. According to Spotify data, video podcast consumption in Spain has increased by more than 80% compared to last year, placing the country as the fourth country in the world with the highest penetration of this format. Furthermore, nearly 60% of the 100 most popular podcasts in Spain already offer video episodes.
This growth is also reflected among creators and in the way audiences consume this content. Spanish-language programs that publish video podcasts have grown by 40% year-on-year, while the average time spent on the format continues to increase: the hours of video consumed per user have grown by nearly 40% in Spain.
The online shopping process has undergone a structural transformation. The starting point hasn't changed: consumers research, compare reviews and prices across websites and comparison sites, and form their own opinions about what to buy and where. For years, this process was manual and tedious. Now, conversational assistants allow users to ask questions in natural language and receive a curated selection of pre-compared options, along with th...
In March, Amazon launched Global Warehousing and Distribution (GWD) as an international extension of its warehousing and distribution service. The first major hub opened in Shenzhen, China, and Amazon later expanded the network with facilities in other parts of China: Shanghai and Ningbo. The goal of this service was to make it easier for sellers to store inventory near the point of manufacture, instead of shipping it in advance to each country w...
