WhatsApp has just introduced "Guest Calls," a new feature that allows users to invite anyone, whether or not they have a WhatsApp account, to join a call. These calls remain free and end-to-end encrypted with no time limits. How Guest Calls Work To safeguard user privacy during calls, WhatsApp has implemented several measures, such as requiring the organizer's approval before any invited person can join. Additionally, before joining the call, invited guests will be directed to a "waiting room" until the organizer accepts them. Security restrictions also include the fact that invited guests cannot see other participants' phone numbers, send them messages, or add other people to the call. But this doesn't mean guests are completely limited, as they can still use the basic call or video call functions, such as sharing their computer screen to collaborate and review materials, reacting with a thumbs up or a heart emoji, or raising their hand to participate. How to create a call link Inviting someone to join a WhatsApp call is very simple; just follow these steps: - Open WhatsApp and go to the Calls tab located in the bottom menu. - Tap the "+" button and create a call link. - Send it to the person or people you want to talk to, whether or not they have WhatsApp. Guests simply need to open the invitation link in their computer's browser, enter their name, and wait to be accepted by the call organizer. For group calls, the limit is 32 people. Soon you'll be able to create calls from your Google or Outlook calendar. WhatsApp also took the opportunity to announce that before the end of the year it plans to implement an integration that will allow its users to create WhatsApp calls directly from their Google or Outlook calendar. To use this feature, simply install the WhatsApp plugin, connect your account, and add a call link to the invitation. Anyone invited will be able to join these calls, even if they don't have a WhatsApp account.
