The short answer is that it's a premium Instagram subscription that, after being tested in a few countries, they've decided to launch globally for all users. And as we mentioned in this article, it's not the only subscription Meta is launching. Now, having answered the question posed in the headline for those of us who see a 300-word article and immediately think "too much text," let's analyze this launch in a little more depth. What is Instagram Plus? We already knew that Meta was going to include some premium subscriptions on its platforms, but we didn't know when it would all start. As we've seen with other new features, they love to test things before launching them globally, so first they test "and then they see." Instagram Plus appears to be a premium subscription that gives you access to exclusive features. As Adam Mosseri himself confirmed on his Instagram profile, the features available in Instagram Plus will allow you to see how many times someone has rewatched your stories (not who, but how many times), create audience lists for your stories, in addition to your Close Friends list (and Selena Gomez's Secret Friends list), and extend story viewing on your profile for another 24 hours. You'll finally be able to search within the list of people who have viewed your story (please don't search for things you don't want to see; what you seek, you will find). Mosseri also confirmed that you can preview another user's story by pressing and holding it for a certain amount of time, and your name won't appear in the list of viewers. As Meta explains on their blog, you'll also be able to have a custom app icon, a custom font for your bio, the option to pin up to six posts to your profile, and post content directly to your profile or highlights without them appearing in your friends' feeds. Once a week, subscribers can highlight one of their stories to increase its visibility, making it appear at the top of their followers' story feeds. Finally, in true YouTube style, Instagram Plus users can give an animated "super like" to other people's stories. To use it, simply go to your Instagram profile settings. If you don't see it yet, don't worry, it's coming. After all, it was just launched globally. How much does Instagram Plus cost? According to what's being shared on social media, there seems to be a significant price variation depending on where the user lives, at least for now. For example, in Mexico, it costs 39 Mexican pesos, which translates to €1.88 per month. In the Philippines, it costs 65 Philippine pesos per month, which is €0.95. Knowing this, it seems the price in these countries is around €2 per month. A minuscule amount compared to streaming platforms like Netflix, HBO, or Prime Video, or other social media networks. In the UK, it will cost £3.50. In the US, the price is $3.99. But the thing is, in Europe… the amount is the same, only in euros. Therefore, it's currently the most expensive. It's important to know that this subscription is separate from Meta Verified. After all, Instagram Plus is aimed at everyday users, unlike Meta Verified, which focuses on businesses and content creators. Although it might seem strange, the subscription model has been around for a long time, which also contributes to users feeling somewhat saturated, especially now that many platforms are raising their prices. However, it works. For example, Snapchat+, Snapchat's subscription service priced at $3.99 per month, already has more than 25 million subscribers, as the company has announced. And you thought nobody used this app anymore…
